WOW... i can not believe all the positive feed back. Thank you for all the kind words. Gina... it is funny that you mentioned the video. Michele and I watched it for the first time last night and the music with the pictures are great! Hope to see everyone at Homecoming on 11/3.

comment by Dave '82

out of all those cool places to eat, Keppel still had the best Poor Boy sandwhiches this side of the 605 freeway. o.k. wait, maybe it was Belly Busters on Valley and Garfield.

comment by Diana M. Parra '82

Just sitting here, reading everyone's thoughts and memories of back in the day.......It's good to hear that so many Alumni remember about all the names of different stores that were around back then. Let's change the subject now......What has everyone been up to now a days??? That would be a more interesting subject!!! To talk about what is happening now in everyone's life. To start off, anyone out there ride Harley's?? I saw a few bikes at Homecoming night. Anyone going on a Toy Run? Riding out to Cook's Corner, Hell's Kitchen, or The Rock Store?? Anyone else go on the Love Ride last weekend with Jay Leno?? Great Ride!!!

comment by Hector Rios '79

Brian, sorry, just saw your message, yes I did film Joey Caruso and Eileen Santora dancing. Joey , that solo, way too funny dude. (fricken Joey ....LOL) Yeah, you too Mike Lucero. You didn't think I'd forget about you too huh. You guys are way too funny. I'll be more than happy too pay for dancing lessons for the both of you ok?!.....LOL. Brian, I sent Ave a copy of the DVD, I'm sure by now you already know that, she will be showing it at the last reunion meeting. I was hoping to see all of you at the last meeting, but I have another engagement I just couldn't pull myself away from. Also, I want to thank "Captain Rick Garcia" (what a great host and a perfect gentleman). Thank you for a great time on the Angelina. Looking forward to the reunion, see you all there.

comment by Brian

HA..... Joey you were what we called a "FISH". during our wrestling practices, i remember Larry being easy to take down with a one leg grab, but very difficult to keep down. Walberger, Bauer, tommy Torres and the Martin Brothers.... they kicked butt at every match. looking forward to seeing everyone.

comment by Brenda

Congratulations to Irma Blanco on her baby news. You see Irma we listen to you! lol See you at the reunion.

comment by Diana Parra

82'-Hi Angela Manno-Shelton, Great to see your name up on the Door tickets. How is Eileen Pinder-Olson doing? Is she coming with you? It will be nice to see you both again! It's been 13yrs since I saw you both. Remember, it was 1993, Allen Amimoto and I went to visit you both? I was pregnant with my now..... 13 yr old daughter, Jasmine. Wow!! Such a long time ago!!! See you at the Reunion!!

comment by Suzi Bohne '83-kinda

Desiree--I still have a double-belt. Not sure why I kept it. ZODY's and GEMCO. I'm getting emotional over a store...and the related memories. Does that mean, we're "of the geez" now? I remember Larry's Sheik costume, too. Someone try and get Randy Frey's butt over to the beach party...we grew up across the street from each other and he's all caught up being a new Dad I think.

comment by Suzi Bohne

Hey...how's our buddy ol' pal (and his wife) who came all the way from the Big Island? They had a 6.6 earthquake there today ya know. Can't find him on here. Anyone know? p.s. when is the next party..anywhere? anyone? anyone? Beuler?

comment by Gina

Just a plug for the reunion video. You may have the annuals but the effect of the slideshow with sound is amazing! If you didn't purchase the reunion video, it's a mere $12 bucks! I just watched it again! Thank you Steve Lustro for your wonderful comments. Thank you everyone for participating, for your comments and support and for being part of a once in lifetime event!!

comment by Richard Hart"78

I sure do remember the helmes bakery truck, they had the best glazed donuts, have not tasted anything as good since then and Atlantic Square Bakery, sure did have the best cakes and pastries, wow now I am getting hungry.

comment by Martha Rodriguez Aguilar '79

Was the store next to Penny's called Knobby's ? Back in the day this store would of been comparable to today's Windsor.

comment by Hector Rios '79

You know , some of my greatest memories were with my bra's, Ruben Hernandez, Chris Guerrero, we would cut class and jet down to Huntington Beach to catch those narly waves. And dudes you can't forget those CHOICE BABES! on the beach with those G string bikinies. Man that was the life. And talk about "rad" dudes, Chris, Ruben and I were surfing out at Huntington Beach that day and out of the wild blue skys comes this sea plane down for a crash landing right were we were surfing. Talk about a close, what a trip that was. I was up on shore at the time watching Chris and Ruben circling around the plane on there surf boards. I don't remember if they actually help these people out of the plane, but I'm sure they were trying to, or maybe they were just more amazed or (IN SHOCK LOL!) from almost being hit. OK, I can laugh about that now. Wow, the craziest things that happen in our lives. (In special memory) to Chris Guerrero, to my childhood friend, what a cool and funny guy you were. You will never be forgotten, and you will alway's be in our hearts. LOVE YOU BRO!

comment by Becky Q 79

Martha I think your right about the store, Wasn't there an Anitas also? Or Learners? It was right next door to JC Penneys. I can recall so many great times at Shakey's though. Hector, I wrote down your recipe to try it sounds yummy, I haven't put the grill away yet so this gives me a reason to try it. I remember the A&W and Georges too, Just a few places favorite my parents took us to. Isn't it funny that we all at some point had or used someone's ID that in no way was anywhere close to our own descriptions. I once used one that said I was 5'2 yet I was 5'7 did anyone really pay attention? We all had moments like that I guess.

comment by Becky Q 79

OH Yeah Ave....I Remember that little lady in the Italian Deli. your right. She was a fixture in that place everything time I walked by. Loved the aroma and Benny's wasn't so bad either. They were both next to a laundermat and the paint store on the Corner of Orange and Garvey.

Hello Alumni! 2-23-07 this is Diana Parra. I hope everyone is doing well these days! The reason I'm writing is to ask if anyone has heard of Chris Brady & Orrin Woodward? They have helped pioneer a business on the Internet and are expanding that business right now. I can't promise you anything, but I'd like to get together to discuss the details. Please send me an e-mail if you are interested in hearing more!! So that I may set up a date & time to meet. Have a great day!!

comment by Matt Marquisee '73

I need help! A classmate and looong lost friend from Keppel, Frank Malczewski has contacted me on Classmates.com, but I'm not a subscriber. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could contact him over there and bring him over here. Or pass my ph.# to him; 310-713-0393. Frank and Don Caravella were my best friends in school. Haven't found Don yet. Thanks

I am glad to see that all the fans of Westwood High have something can make them happy once every seven years. After losing not one but two Heisman Trophy winners and a great many of the starters from last year when they finished second in the nation, after either winning the NATIONAL championship two years in a row(with a top five finish the year prior). In what should have been a rebuilding year USC is again going to play in the Rose Bowl. But seriously the Bruins lost more games this year than the Trojans have in the last five years! What I am more suprised to see is the lack of outrage at the possible destruction of Wells (monster) park. If you need something to get behind stopping the City of San Gabriel of making another huge mistake. The only times I go back to the area I grew up in is to take my six year old to play in the dinosaur area. I played little league in that park in the sixties and it is one of the few places that remains as it was forty years ago. If this is not stopped all you people from Keppel can throw the park in with Gemco, the Del Mar Drive In, Big Boy Bobs, Mad Man Muntz's, etc. I don't know about anybody else but I would rather have my kids play in Monster Park than in one of those generic parks where they use foam rubber instead of sand. Remember when you could climb on the Lion drinking fountains in Barnes Park. They improved them right the heck out of there. Go to the website sign the petition and spread the word. Hey Laura,  See you at Bjs in Montebello about 6pm? It will be nice to get out for a bit. I hope more of you will be able to stop by and say hi.    It's another way to let traffic wind down, and take on a good conversation with good company before you  make  your way home.
