Does this mean Members Only jackets are out???

comment by Mariano Escalante 80'

Just the guys!!! Hey, you know who you are. Since the reunion is all over we need to get together and have more fun. Larry Molina wants to have a barbeque in the near future so we can talk about the reunion. Gary, Gary, David, Dave, Doug, Darryl, Ralph, and all others.

comment by Sherri Mora-Bass '83

Ave, I don't know if you truly know how much the alumni appreciate what you have given us. You are a dream maker. For one weekend we were 16 again. We were young, but most important, we were laughing and having a great time with our friends. There is something very unique about the relationships we formed in school and in our community while growing up. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this happen. If someone loses their senses and wants to try to do this again, I'll help out any way I can. I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!! (No, it's not 2 am and I am NOT drunk!!!) Haha

comment by Dave Lopez

change of plans everyone... we're all meeting at the Great Skate after the game, and thats final!!! LOL Hey, Tom Torress use to work at Beaches Market, anyone remember Tom from class of '82?

comment by Esther 'Renee' Gueits

Someone once said, "You can never go back"... Let it be said that as of 09/23/06, "WE DID!" What an awesome experience....re-living my youth with old friends and acquaintances. A truly special night, but far too short :( I know there were some in attendance that I might never see again, so let me say this now, it was not only a treat but a blessing to be in your company once more! I hope we get to do it again. Thanks Ave, for the memories. BTW, can you guys forward pix to me too at HipyAtHrt@aol.com. Or jokes, or whatever.... Love & Peace to all

comment by Michael W. Tudrick '79

You know, we're born and then we die. Not all of us ever really live. Let it be said that on 9/23/6 WE ALL TRULY LIVED! Nothing quite like being in a big room with a bunch of girls (SIX) you've dated. In my next life, I WANT TO BE ME! Also, never knew there was a winery at Keppel cause the women both above and other years aged like fine wine. Well, have got to run - gotta get my outfit back to DON JOHNSON!

comment by Lisa and Barry Gustaferro

What can I say?? There are no words to describe Saturday night. As Dana said "people our age shouldn't be allowed to have that much fun". Ave, as always, you are over the top and for once I truly appreciate that. It has left me overly emotional reading the comments left by everyone. Maybe I'm just too sensitive but as Barry and I sit here, I am reading them out loud to him and I can't stop crying. I'm going to look in the dictionary and find a word that can describe that evening. All I can say now is Thank You Ave! Now what?

comment by bdj

I have something to add.... DESIREE ROCCO..... You and your crew did an outstanding job with the food at the beach party! My kids LOVED the taco/rice/beans plate. In addition, it was the perfect “Hang-Over” food!

comment by Veronica Denerson '81

OMG Ave! The night was awsome. You gotta be very proud of yourself. All the sweat and tears that went into the event-I hope you realize everyone appreciates it so much. I'm sure so many people feel as I do, man there just wasn't enough time to see everyone you wanted to. It was a blast and It was great to see everyone I was able to run into. I'm so sad its over.

comment by Becky

Thinking about how fast this week has gone, one thing I'm grateful for is that through and because of the reunion I have reconnected with some special people. Some of us Ladies from the classes of 78 & 79 plan on a lunch in the near future. Again something to look forward to. We're hoping more can join. I hope many are able to continue friendships rekindled and made from that evening. Any of my friends please feel free to drop me an e-mail anytime.

comment by Diane Fellis-Springer 76

My husband Mark Springer (76) & I almost had to miss the reunion due to my dad having emergency hip surgery on Sat. morning from a fall he had taken. The surg. went well so we decided to attend. It was a bittersweet decision but I know my dad would of wanted us to attend. Sadly around 5am Sunday morning my dad started taking a turn for the worse & passed away minutes after my sister & I arived at the hospital. It was especially nice at the reunion to see Larry & Joey Hernandez who lived next door to us on Tyler Dr. in Montery Prk and who also knew my dad. Also friends who I attended Hillcrest with like Karen Burns with her very nice husband & Deanna Wiebe. Also conecting with Sherrie Garcia,Yvonne Fournier & Matt Marquissee and other friends of ours. To Patricia Vega-Jeter Mark & I were trying to find you to say hello. I am glad everyone had a wonderful time and hopefully at the next reunion my other dear friends from (76 )Lori Young-Thomas, Patty Mullins, & Claire Colvin can all attend.

comment by JRM

Had a wonderful time at the Reunion. Such anticipation for so many months and now it's over! Many, many thanks to Ave and the committee for all of their hard work. It was fun to see so many familiar faces! There wasn't enough time to really catch up! I'm ready to do it again! I am trying to get in contact with Angie Espinosa-Avila from the class of 1981. We didn't have any paper to write information down. I also went to grammar school with her (St. Stephens). If anyone has her contact info, please let me know or have her email me. Thanks!

comment by Hector Rios '79

OOP'S, a special ( thanks) to Ave and the committee. SORRY i left that out.

comment by Hector Rios '79

"wow", was that ballroom hot or was it just the ladies. Girls you all looked sensational. I felt like a little boy in a candy store for the very first time, but could not touch the merchandice or I would get my hand slapped "LOL"!. No, but in all seriousness I had a blast. Once again a special to ave and the committee for making this such an unforgetable event. LOVED IT!

comment by Elaine Elwell-Stearns 82'

Okay, It's Thursday afternoon and just a week ago I was at this same place, the difference is that last week I had knots in my stomach and I was getting all giddy inside and nervous about the event that was going to happen that Saturday....It was like being back in High school waiting for the "prom or the big "Football Game"' to happen. And after reading everyone's messages, I know now that I am so glad that me an Bob were able to be a part of it. Because those memories from Saturday night are going to be with all of us forever... Something we can tell our grandkids and hopefully one day they will be able to experience that same feeling we all did.. All the smiles and laughs, cameras flashing, old friends reunited and new friends made. Ave, again thanks for making it "HAPPEN" !!!XOXOXO Bob and Elaine Stearns

comment by Tony R. Valdez

It's Wenesday now.....I'm still feeling sad that the evening is really over. As quoted by Jennie Jerome Churchill........... "Treat your friends as you do your pictures, and place them in their best light." ........... To me you all are in a shining light.

comment by Jeff Perez Class of 79

Hello to all Keppel Alumni, especially class of 1979. I look forward to seeing many of my friends I have not seen in so many years. I know this will be a special evening for all. Thanks Ave for having the tenacity to put together such an event.

comment by Dave Lopez

You all kill me! LOL in a nice way. Albert and myself will be spinning all the dance jams from '72 through '87. at 15 songs an hour and only 4 hours to fit them all in, help me with the math here. lol It's going to be an awesome mix of some real cool music that you may never hear ever again in one night. From ABBA to ZAP, from the Bay City Rollers to Zeppelin it's gonna be a night to remember. Did i mention Cumbias, Salsa and Marengue?

comment by bdj

Wendy..... i haven't heard the word "bitchen" in a long time.... HA! i also remember the spandex you wore... never new you were sharing clothes with Ysais! Robert...is this true?

I can't express what was going through my mind Saturday evening. It was like seeing your old friends in the hallways at Keppel. Everyone just shined at the happiness they were feeling. Although my husband and I didn't stay all evening, it was great talking with John and Joey Caruso, Margo it was nice to have met you, Mike Lucero all of you looked wonderful and we were happy to see you after all this time. Irene, it was nice to see you, you looked great (the hair!) and your husband is very nice. You both seem like a very sweet couple. Jeanette, Martha,Viriginia, Diane,Dolores I wish we had more time together to do what we do best ..LAUGH! Even seeing an old friend from Garvey Keiko, my goodness. It was too much. A wonderful Party pulled off by a committed group of friends that saw it through. Thank you all again. Take the Best of Care!

comment by Wendy Rasich Cypert 81'

Wow! We had so much fun! Thank you to all the folks who worked so hard to make this happen and thank you to all those who put up with my "dancing fever" I think I just may make my way down for the homecoming game. ps I told Audrey and Matt how much everyone asked about them...I will try to get them to come too.

David, Raul and Joann Rodrieguez, it was a special time for me. I loved talking to you. Sorry I missed you parents. I would have been great to see them.

WELL EVERYONE HERE IN THE GUEST BOOK HAS SAID WHAT I FELT ABOUT HOW THE NIGHT TURNED OUT. THE MUSIC WAS GREAT, BUT I WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU SO MUCH TO AVE FOR COMING UP WITH THIS IDEA, AND MAKING THE CLASS OF 84 A PART OF THE "BEST" REUNION I EVER ATTENDED. I'M GLAD I GOT TO MEET A LOT OF NEW PEOPLE, AND I HOPE WE CAN ALL KEEP IN TOUCH.

OK OK I know, I've already written twice, but now that it's Wednesday and my head is a little clearer, I just wanted to to add a little something. Once again, the outstanding job done by the reunion committee was second to none. I also just wanted to thank all my old friends and new ones for a great night. Gary Porras, Larry Molina, Elaine Cruz, Mario Escalante, Doug and Javier Malendez---it was like we've never been seperated. Although we all have our own busy lives and it's been several years since we've gotten together, I know in my heart you are all my true, good friends. That was proven Saturday when we acted as though we had just seen each other last month or so. Jenny Webber, thanks for being so nice and talking to me during dinner. You're just as friendly now as you were at Keppel. Liz Cruz is truly a gem. Same sweet lovable person now as always. Albert and Linda Sepulveda, Kim and Cindy Balon, and Marc and Kim Molina, it was GREAT seeing all you guys after soooooooo long. I'm glad I got you to go Rosalinda Pharr. as i was striking the stage that evening it suddenly hit me that the evening had the makings of a real good dream. I was the last one to leave that ballroom that evening and it was surreal. Like it never even happened. But you all were there to experience a keppel extravganza that may never be duplicated. Thanks to Alex Delgado for the bang up job as our MC, The security staff for keeping the republicans out, my boys Gary Porras, David Miranda, Doug Melendez, Larry Molina, Mario Escalante, Brian De Jesus, John Avial and bad ass MKHS all star band and our lovely Ave. Thnaks for making this dream come true for all of us.

comment by Ave Hoyos-Capozello '81

If you didn't get a chance to tune in this morning to Irma Blanco '85 on KBIG - she made another announcement regarding the reunion and tomorrow's deadline for ticket purchases. And, wouldn't you know it, she was in Talondi too! Brilliant minds think alike - even though we were four years apart! Just wanted to say again how grateful we are to her for mentioning a "personal" event on air. It's definately helped our ticket sales and website visits. We're proud to have you as an alumni friend - Thanks momma!

comment by Malena Hoyos '83

Hello everyone, just a note to say "thank you" to those of you who've purchased your tickets! You might not think that you had the time to help us with the reunion, but by simply buying your ticket you've done a lot! And, to those don't make the July 1st deadline, we're sorry - we tried! Get ready for the party of the decade!!!

comment by Brian '80

I want to start by saying that I hope you all had a blessed Thanksgiving with your families and friends. It's with sorrow and a heavy heart to let you all know that this afternoon at approx. 3:30 p.m. Joseph "Joey" Lang the 16 yr.old son of Jon (80') and Michelle Lang lost his life at Children's Hospital in Los Angeles. Joey Lang passed due to complications from his battle with leukemia. Joey is survived by his parents Jon and Michelle, his siblings Jon Jr., Matthew, Allysa and Samantha. His love for his family, the lord and life will always be an inspiration for all that were blessed to have Joey touch their life. At this time if anyone would like to send their condolences or prayers to the family, please e-mail then to me at trvcoach@aol.com and I'll be sure to pass them to Jon Lang. I'll post an update of which organization(s) that anyone wishing to donate in Joey Lang's name could do so. Please keep the Lang Family in your prayers during this difficult time and be sure to hug, kiss and tell your children how much you LOVE them.

Does anyone remember Doc Brown? He's been a fixture at Keppel football games forever? (at least 35 years) Well, he's STILL there!! I was just wondering if maybe there wasn't something that could be done to recognize Doc the night of Homecoming? Maybe get some of the old football players together and take $50 bucks from the money we've made and buy him something? Talk about "Friday Night Lights" this man has volunteered every Friday for Keppel's football team for a very long time, and he's STILL doing it. (he also works the Thursday football games) If not, I hope those of you who were in sports take a minute and say "hello" to him before the game, he'd love it. You can't miss him, he's the only one on the sidelines in a cardinal cowboy hat. Yes, it's THAT same cardinal cowboy hat.

Del Mar Foods? Hello? It used to be Lucky's before that. I lived about a good golf balls hit that direction..actually Del Mar and Fern, just south of Garvey. Don't even get me started on meorable food and shopping in and around Rosemead and Monterey Park from the 70's and on...I'll win everytime. Speaking of which...funny story from 1974..me at Boys Market on Del Mar/Valley, asking the grocery clerk if he sold balls because I wanted to buy balls. Yes, he laughed. Later on in the station wagon on our way home, my Mom had to tell me using the worst scientific jargon I'd ever heard, why they were laughing. My thoughts were "balls resemble a man's what???" I just wanted new balls for my jax set.
