REUNION BABY! GET YOUR TICKETS NOW! 2006 REUNION WAS A BLAST..CANT WAIT TO SEE OLD AND NEW FRIENDS AGAIN.
Just wanted to say hi to all my schoolmates. GOD BLESS each and all who knew me. The teachers that understood me as a troubled teen.
Jeff: Unfortunately, you're not the only one to experience difficulties regarding photographs. I am still trying to obtain a disc of all photos taken so I can get photos to all that did not receive them. (I am pursuing a full refund for alumni that are still without their packages - including yourself.) I did receive 4 x 6 prints of many, but I did not see your photos in that package. It's definitely put a damper on post-reunion memories. We'll work with a more reputable company next time around. A recommendation of his photography services is not forthcoming from anyone on our reunion committee. Apologies to all... Ave
Ave...we had a blast! Always lots of fun spending time with old friends. Next time we will try to make it on a Saturday (hope that works better with your schedule...EC!). Take care.
OK its me Brenda Class of 83...just found out about this and I wanna go whos going and whos room can I crash. We can drive my car just pitch in for gas. Somebody help me please . LOL I need a weekend out LMAO
Sorry I missed the Vegas party...I was in Michigan for business. My best wishes go out to Stacy & Erik and Tony & Belinda. It was so cool to see you couples together at the reunion and now you both married and looking forward to the rest of your lives together. God bless you and your families. I STILL HAVE HOPE!!! (looking for the alumni that still have a crush on me)..LOL I look forward to the beach party. (maybe the future Mrs. Valdez will be there).....LOL Take care everyone.....keep in touch.
Oh what a night!! The reunion was so much fun. What a fabulous time was had by all! It was really nice to see all who were able to attend and missed those that were unable to be there. Thank you to the many classmates that traveled long distances to attend...Jon-Eric & Angie Garcia, Michelle Chavira-Clark, Javier & Norma Hernandez, Dan & Amy Herrera Maestas...just to name a few...and all others that traveled from throughout California to be there! A very special thank you to Ave Hoyos Capozello for being such a wonderful event coordinator...YOU ROCK!!! God has truly blessed our classmates. We look forward to our next reunion...
Hi everyone, if you want to stay in Vegas longer, you can rent my beautiful 1 BR condo at Tahiti Village (Las Vegas Blvd, 1 mi off the strip)with free shuttle servce to 6 hotels every 1/2 hour. See Tahitivillagelas vegas.com for a view of the many amenities. $100/night. My email is wiebegould@sbcglobal.net Dee Dee Wiebe
I want to say, wow Laker girl Laurie, you look exactly the same as you did in high school! Hope you're well. I keep waiting for someone to announce a class of 1976 reunion; haven't had one in awhile. Let me know if you hear anything. My sister Diane had fun catching up with some of the '79 ladies a few weeks ago. Also, re: Oscar's plug. Sounds like an important cause. Living in a desirable area of CA makes me realize how important it is to retain culture and historical buildings. Chains and condos do not contribute to a sense of place.
Jeff, Thank you so much for responding to my plea for help!! I am keeping my finger's crossed that more former players will remember how giving their coaches were to them and that they might "pay it forward" as you have so graciously offered to do. What I didn't mention in that plea was in addition to NO WATER BEING AVAILABE TO THE TEAM, THEY HAVE NOT HAD ACCESS TO THEIR WEIGHT ROOM SINCE THE DAY AFTER SCHOOL LET OUT FOR THE SUMMER!!!!! I could not sleep until 4am on Friday. How can you have a successful INJURY FREE, WELL CONDITIONED, STRONG, ABLE BODIED TEAM WITH ABSOLUTEY NO WEIGHT TRAINING WHATSOEVER???? Is this School District Serious??? I woke up Friday morning, got dressed and drove straight over to the Alhambra YMCA. I asked for the person in charge, who was not in and left a message for her. A bit later thee most wonderful ANGEL, Valeri Gomez, called me back., She was on the roof about what the team has been put thru and has offered them FULL USE OF THE FACILITY FOR TEAM AND COACHES!!! There really are good people still in this world. If you feel so inclined.. from where ever you may be reading this.. please send her a "Thank you" card and let her know that you are an Alumni and appreciate her stepping up to the plate when no one in the District could or would. After all, she didn't have to do it.
IT'S REALLY NICE TO SEE SOME FAMILIAR FACES, SOME THAT I HAVE'NT SEEN SINCE 1978. I HAD LEFT KEPPEL AND WENT TO ANOTHER SCHOOL TILL 1979, THEN I ENLISTED INTO THE MARINE CORPS. I DID'NT GRADUATE, BUT BEING A MARINE WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE...I TRAVELED TO 10 DIFFERENT COUNTRYS SO NO REGRETS HERE....LORD WILLING I CAN MAKE THE NEXT REUNION...GOD BLESS....
Thank you to the many that showed up in Long Beach Saturday night. Given the current economic conditions and where we're all at...it was a fabulous turn out. Thank you to all that made it despite the trials and tribulations to get there. The ballroom was packed and everyone had such a wonderful time. It reminded me of how lucky we are to be alive, healthy, happy and to have friendships that have lasted DECADES! Cheers to us all. Can't wait for 2011. ARE YOU READY???!
Class of 1967
Hello to everyone, I\'m happy to have found this site and hope all is well with everyone.
It's sure been a long time, hasn't it? ("Class of "72") Love to hear from the old timers. shoot me a text. (Bucket list) 818-518-3169
I'm looking for some 79 classmates that I haven't talked to in years, Virginia Campos, Diane Bischoff, Olga Contreras, Frances Juarez, just to name a few. These ladies go all the back to Garvey days and it would be nice to re-connect......
How is everyone having so much fun without the "80 - "Most Spirited Senior"? I'm glad I found the site and I'm looking forward to hearing and meeting many of my classmates. Tony R. Valdez - "80
Hello everyone, Ave is working so hard on this and her closest friends are a bunch of losers that aren't helping AT ALL. We still love you Ave even though you do nothing simple. You are making us look bad....but when we are all talking about you behind your back we are still saying how proud we are of the job you are doing. Keep up the good work. This should be a GREAT party!
Well I guess I'll be breaking out the DITTOS!!!.......Saddleback of course! I bought them at GEMCO!!! or was it ZODY'S???
Shirt and Tie?, Suits?! You've got to be kidding, right? This is a party. But we're all adults so I don't want to see cut-offs and t-shirts either. But then again, despite it's 5-Star rating it is at the beach and I don't recall seeing any ties on guests or employees. Don't worry, I may be a long-hair, but I know how to dress for the occasion.
GEMCO! the summer of 1978 Bob Stearns and I worked there as cart boys. we use to run around the entire parking lot collecting carts and stack them in the store. i was even able to save enough money for my 1st car. (69 VW Bug)
Brigitte I got my dittos from Smarty Pants. LOL Hey Joey...your gonna look hot!
Hey Diana~ I was at Santa Anita that day too! I think all Garvey Girls were!....lol......
Yeah! Brigette, I think most of the girls from Garvey were there. LOL!!! Yes, bdj........the Da Do Run Run guy!!!! He was HOT back then!!!!! Don't be jealous, bdj.....I remember all the girls thought you were Hot, too!!! Especially, about your Fro!!! It was soooo cute!! :) hehe!!
Shaun Cassidy?? I think I had a David Cassidy lunch box at Ynez, hmmm it may have been Bobby Sherman. The hot guy that wore a choker.
BDJ, You're right, WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too much music to satisfy everyone's taste. I hope I hear a little of everything from CCR, Led Zeppellin, Eagles, Earth, Wind & Fire to newer ? stuff like Depeche Mode, Bronski Beat, and Kano. We'll see if our great DJ Dave Lopez can handle the request. I wouldn't want to be in his shoes. Later All !!!
Guess what everyone, I just e-mailed $50.00 and gave all my personal bank information to a Nigerian diplomat. Soon I'll be geting TEN MILLION dollars!!! Drinks are on me at the reunion. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the tip Ave. :)
I'll probably regret admitting this but...DJ Dave, I've got Shaun Cassidy's Greatest Hits CD. (It was a gift from another MKHS alumni whose identity I will protect) I also have the Partridge Family Greates Hits CD. I could bring them if you're interested in adding any of their songs to the mix. Hahaha
Hey, Rene '74'...... I remember Chemin de fers! Way more expensive than Dittos but just as awesome! Had one pair and loved them. Kept them long after they no longer fit (there's always hope!). Ah, the good old days!!!
Natalie, You KNOW it was a Bobby Sherman lunch box. You liked him way more than David Cassidy! Only someone who's been your friend for 33 years can tell you that! Luv ya!
Sherri~ I have the Partridge Family too, but do you have the Brady Bunch?....lol...I still have Shaun Cassidy on VINYL!! And Natalie I have Bobby Sherman too!
Brigitte..........and I thought I was the only one that still had a Shaun Cassidy record album. LMAO
I would just like to say on behalf of everyone who is thinking this and wants to say this......... to the people thinking of gatecrashing --how sad and pathetic it is that after all these years that some of you have grown older but have still not matured. I dont know about you but if someone I knew showed up without having the courtesy to pay for their ticket like the rest of us -I wouldnt want to associate or be seen with someone who remains cheap and immature after all these years. You should be embarrased of yourself and if your not then im embarrased for you. Many people have given their time and money for this event to happen--GROW UP AND BUY A TICKET!!!
Dear Fellow Alumni: Thanks for saying what we were all thinking. For some, it might just be a financial hardship. I know that a couple people have bought tickets for friends - and I think that's great! But, for the very few that think it's okay to just show up, I also think it's too bad that they're not considerate of the effort, time and money others have contributed. I guess we'll just see how it goes and hope for the best. Maybe they'll see what people are writing, reconsider, and buy a ticket. At least they can't use that as an excuse now since there are still some left. Here's hoping they figure it out and do the right thing! Signed - An Alumni with LOTS of family members that paid for their tickets!!!
It was soooooooooo nice to see everyone out at the Hilton! Thanks for a good time! Marc and I had a BLAST!
Oh my god, I had a blast!!! I was really bad off this morning. 2 days of partying is not like it used to be!!! I am back in San Diego watching football and my head hurts!! It was wonderful to see so many people, it makes me miss everyone so much. I would really love to stay in touch with a lot of you so feel free to e-mail me. Love ya!!!
Had a great time. Can't even begin to tell ya . To all you ladies, you looked hot. Even us guys looked cool. Thanks Ave. I will always remember this.
Just want to give some BIG thanks to the following people for making this event go as smoothly as possible… To Dave Lopez for your amazing DJ rig, and for your patience and professionalism in dealing with 12 or so musicians/singers; To the trombonist (whose name I didn’t get) for getting the PA system going when it went on the blink 30 minutes before the gig; To John Avila, for your good vibes and amazing playing…it was great playing with you again after so many years; And to the other musicians, thanks for the kudos and comradre, although it was…um…interesting…playing with 4 guitarists and two bass players…all at the same time! Most of all, THANK YOU to Ave for her cool headedness, sweet generosity, and for your amazing organizational skills in putting this whole thing together. There’s a Fortune 500 company penthouse office waiting for you somewhere. I had a GREAT time seeing old friends -- some going all the way back to my “Garvey Days’’ and I want to wish you all good fortune and happiness in the years ahead.
Wow! We had a great time! From seeing familiar faces to catching up with long ago friends. What a wonderful experience. It was so good to see and hear how everyone had been doing. Wish we could have had more time to speak with more of you. Was it just me or did the font on those name tags seem awfully small? It was kind of funny to see a somewhat familiar face, then find out who you were! Sorry we couldn't make it to the beach today. Thank you Ave for organizing the event. What a successful party! Tim ('75) and Irene ('79) Strayer.
Well…. It is done and I hope everyone that went to the reunion and/or beach party found a familiar face and had a good time. It was crazy at the beginning but people came through… There were SO many people that were working hard behind the scene I wanted to give a special thanks to a couple of volunteers that without their hard work, NONE of this would have happen. The parents! Ave’s mother Esther at the student store and Paul(’42) & Betty Young at the check-in table! They stepped up and brought professional pride to our reunion. It was so very nice to not only catch up with old classmates, but re-connect with the three of you! A couple of others I must say THANK YOU…. John, Mike, Joey, Martha, Darrel, Georgina, Jennifer…. Thanks for EVERYTHING …bdj btw… for all those wondering. Tug-O-War at the beach today… Garvey v. Repetto/Ynez/Everyone Else…. Each won one lost one
Dave Lopez, Martha, Marie, Larry. You guys are the best. I had a F***ing GREAT time at Downtown Disney. I laughed so hard I almost peed in my Depenz Diapers LOL!!! It was sooooooo much fun!!! However, it was a little weird seeing mine and Larry's son drink more than us untill the end (remember the Tequila?)Let me know when you guys are getting together again. See Ya...
Had a blast at The Greek Theatre Friday night seeing John Avila play and other members of Oingo Boingo And on Saturday at the Clippers Game and at Weiland's Brewery Underground! Love those Garlic Fries! Right Gina?!?!!!
A HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU ALL! To the ladies who were able to make it this past Sunday to Brunch@ El Torito, it was awesome seeing you all. Some I hadn't seen since Keppel Days! It was a blast and I'm looking forward to the next time. Be Well and Take Care~
Hey Gina, Pepe's in Alhambra-I loved those taquitos too. Now I go to the one in Covina. Funny thing the same guy who worked at Alhambra years ago still works there. LOL Remember Belly Busters??
Googies! Los Amigos Nursery, I remember Greg, I think he was the son that ran it. There was a pet shop on Garvey, the ladies name was Maria. To get there we would go thru the back lot (which flooded during the rains) and walk across a wooden ramp to get into the store. That's where I bought my rabbit food. Near there was Freeze Dance Studio where we did tap and ballet. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving.
Whoa, Steve!, thanks for the trip down memory lane. Does anyone remember McCaslin Park when it was just "the fields" behind La Loma Park? My fondest memories are from after it rained and a lake would form. We'd build rafts out of scrap wood. And although it may not have actually been in MPK, how about the Tiki's on Portrero Grande? Everyone have a Happy Thanksgiving
My first job was at the Tiki's Restaurant on Potrero Grande. It was beautiful inside. Danny Boltz was the owner. What a shame, all gone now. Wishing you all a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving.
I remember McCaslin Park and Tiki's. Also there was Douglas Men's shop, on garvey. HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE.
Cathy Luna has the sexiest eyes...bar none...They are so beautiful in every picture....Happpy Thanksgiving!! By the way... Has anybody heard or seen from Larry Obata???
ok..ok... it was just a joke ladies & gents... i think we are all old enough to know how to dress for this kind of event. you know i will be dressed in my best Angel Flight Suit.... you know the one.... they were on the sales rack at Millers Outpost
