Ave, can you go ahead and change or remove my information from the "Our Troops" page? I'm no longer there so you can remove it! I'm sure there are other troops within our classes are they? I'm thankful for both you and Janet for posting it back then!

You don\'t have me listed on the 1967 graduate

C'mon class of '82...buy your tickets! Don't miss out on what is going to be the party of the decade! I went to the hotel visit yesterday and what a beautiful place to have this reunion. It's right across the street from the beach and the view from the pool terrace is wonderful! I also went on the harbor cruise hosted by Rick Garcia '74. What a gracious host. We all had a great time! Don't miss out in September.

comment by Steve Lustro '73

For those of you who didn't make the Newport Harbor cruise today - you missed one great time! Got to see old acquaintances and make some new ones - sorry I didn't get to visit with more of you - will try and catch up at future meetings or in September. Captain Rick Garcia ('74) - great to see you! Thanks for letting us invade the Angela Louise and for being such a generous host. To Ave and the rest of the committee - you're doing an outstanding job - thanks!

comment by Esther "Rodriguez" Gueits '74

First, I want to thank Rick for hosting the meeting on his boat! What a generous contribution and we had a great time. I urge everyone on this site to visit his website @ www.angelalouise.com! What a blessing it was yesterday, to reunite with Donna, and to see alot my lil bros and sisters :). Kelburn Kids (STILL) Kick!

comment by Malena '83

WHEW! Did we have a GREAT time or what?? Captain Rick, THANK YOU so much for inviting us all to join you and your wonderful crew on your boat. I hope you all had as much fun as we did. To all of the Reunion Committee Members who made the trip- thanks for making Ave feel like she's not alone in this! It was REALLY GOOD to see everyone. Ave, enjoy the Spa treatment and I'll stock you up on "Red Bull" from now until September :)) XOXOXO And Cathy, if I were you I'd find out what Brenda's fav food is QUICK and take her lunch once a week or steal that camera LOL!!!! We should do a boat party-again!

comment by Brenda "83"

Hey everyone, I just wanted to say Thanks for a great time. Rick- you were a gracious host and have an awesome boat. I havent attended any of my reunions so it was really nice to see old friends and pick up where we left off more than 20yrs ago. If the disco party after the meeting was alot of fun I cant even begin to imagine what the actual reunion is going to be like. Hey Mal- what a small world.lol and to Cathy- love ya and like Mal said you owe me lunch.

comment by Brenda

I agree with Mal, you guys gotta dress shirt and tie. My guy is a jeans and t-shirt guy and even he is gonna wear a suit and tie. And believe me that was no easy feat! Please dont embarass yourselfs by going ghetto to a 5 star hotel. Its only for one night, dont you wanna look good? Have some class for the hotel and then wear whatever you want to the beach party.

comment by Richard Hart "78

Hey there: There should not be a problem with wearing a tie and suit, it will be air conditioned in side, but you can always wear a sports coat instead of a suit without a tie, just an idea. As for myself I will be in a suit and tie. We should look our best for AVE.

comment by Brigitte Trenzini'82

Went to The Brass Elephant last night to hear John Avila's band.....Oscar Amaro '76 sat in on keyboards...They rocked! Can't wait to hear the whole band on Saturday!

comment by Belinda Rodriguez '79

Wow ~ Mr Lomeli ~ I look forward to seeing "The Rock" again, a few extra pounds and all - I'm sure most of us are feeling you there! I still don't think Wiley Coyote can catch me, we'll see though, sounds like a good chase. Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow, already!! Many thanks to Ave, BDJ and everyone else on the committees for putting on what we all know will be a memorable weekend!

comment by Eric Hendrickson '72

I agree with the memories. Just sad that a few years ago I returned to Monterey Park to show my wife and sons the neighborhood. Not much left.

comment by Steve Lustro '73

Hey, Richard - good memory! Here are some more from "old" Atlantic Square: Bill's Toys, Googie's, Los Amigos Nursery, Western Auto, Security First National Bank, Lawson's Jewelers, Country Club Fashions, Brooks Shoes, Dobrin's Cards & Gifts, Kiddy Korner, J.J. Newberry, Irv's Deli, Singer Sewing Machines and Howard's Varsity Shop (remember, there was one Howard's between Newberry's and Penney's, and the other was a couple of doors south of See's). Yikes, I remember this stuff!

comment by Theresa

'75-Can't wait for the reunion, my sisters & I are so stoked about it!!!! I'm looking for an old friend we used to hangout, her name is Patricia Jimenez and Dionne (don't remember her last name). Hope to hear from you or even better see you at the reunion....Bye for now.

comment by Becky Morales Quinones

Talk about a small world, Just recently I went to a friend of mine that has been cutting my hair for about 5 years, although I have known her for about 10 years, we just happened to be talking about school when conversation turned to high school, It was hysterical when she said she is also an MKHS graduate! Class of 84! You just never know....Good to hear word is getting around... Becky......

comment by Malena

okay...so you guys never want to dress up anyway, but just remember, we will be taking group pictures by class year! So don't say we didn't warn you when you show up in your favorite Hooter's hot winged stained shirt and too tight khaki's with the broken zipper that's more down than it is up, with the worn out wallet outline on the front pocket and end up in the front row for your class picture!!! It's a Five Star Hotel, with a Five Star dinner, planned by a Five Star Party Planner... Come on guys, play along and dress up for one night the place is air conditioned ;)

comment by David Miranda "82"

Say Dave (Lopez) - Dude, I know you told everybody to send a list of requested songs, but you know me bro, never by the book. Anyways, of all the jammin' songs you're play at the reunion you have to play "Mondole"? by La Flavor for all your bros David, Larry, Doug, John, Marc, Gary P., Ruben J. Mario E. and Gary E. For the chicks play "Reasons" (live version) by Earth, Wind & Fire. I NEVER met a girl who didn't like that song. LOL!!! Later Bro... David

comment by William (Bill) Campos

Hey let's not forget Always and Forever by Heatwave and Forever Mine by the O-Jays...ehh? Oh and by the way it's Mandolay by La Favour and the song was based on the era of Brandi's on Telegragh Rd and Atlantic, remember then??? (lol) Man, I can hardly wait to see the turn out!!!

comment by KRESLAKE 8 T 2

IT IS A GOOD THING THIS REUNION IS NOT AFTER CHRSTMAS VACATION . REMEMBER COMING BACK TO SCHOOL ONLY TO FIND 14 OTHER PEOPLE WEARING THE SAME DESIGN SHIRT OR JACKET FROM MILLERS OUTPOST ?

comment by Matthew Marquisee '73

You know, I've been giving it some thought, and I decided, forget about the "cocktail attire". Hey! I'm 50 yrs old. I don't have to impress anyone but just have a good time. This is a PARTY!; 550 alumni strong! With LIVE Rock 'n' Roll, not some easy-listening combo. We're not at the piano bar. I'm making up for all the reunions I didn't go to. Don't worry, I won't be dressed unappropriately.

comment by Nanette MacColl Los

Great pictures from the reunion. Sad we could not attend (I was going to China the next week to visit my dtr). I hope someone can add some names to the photo albums so we can see who these smiling faces are. Anyone from the 70's there? Looks like fun was had by all.

comment by Becky 79

I 2nd that thought Richard, I hope you all have a Safe and Blessed Holiday. As we all sit and share our memories of our years past, let us all remember that Life is Good and we really do have so much to be Thankful for Friends, Families & Freedom. We have the oppotunity to reach out to those who who mean alot to us. Let's use it while we can. In a few hours I will be meeting several alumni for lunch, an idea that seems to have caught on. It's been so much fun, I'm looking forward to it. Friendships are Special. Keep them going. Let's all remember that. So to all of you a Happy Thanksgiving!!! Take Care and God Bless you all!

comment by Richard Stanford

I'm visiting my sister (Liz Stanford class of '72) in Colorado and we've been talking SO much about Keppel ane Monterey Park. I remember Atlantic Square and its so different today. The shops used to be Penneys, the Anita Shop, Gallenkamps shoes, See's candies, Howards mens store, Tips barbershop where I got my first haircut! Also Thrifty's where you get an ice cream cone for 5 cents. Then there was the Yeelow Deli, the She shop, the Gap, Plush Poodle and then Music Plus came along. Any other shops I forgot?? Take care! Go 84!!! richstan4d@gmail.com

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! I'm so grateful that we pulled off this reunion. It's great reading everyone's comments. Martha, it was a women's clothing store called "Knobby's". Hey, how many of you out there remember Pulciano's (which is now in SG). And of course, one of the landmarks of Alhambra was Pepe's~still there! Still the best taquitos w/guac!!

I also want to give a special thanks to you Ave, for bringing all of us together. Looking forward to many more gatherings in 2007.

Hello there Class of "73". It was sure nice to see a few old faces at the last reunion. It was very nice evening. Thanks to all that made it possible. Pineapple head, where are you !

comment by Larry Landless

So sorry I will miss the Saphire gig. I will be reffing a fight in Costa Rica. Have fun y'all.

comment by Steve Lustro '73

Hey cuz! When did you add the "Q" to the end of your name?? Yeah, I know, you flunked typing! Me too... Believe it or not, Pineapple Tuey is alive and well, with a little less hair and a bigger gut. And geez, I wish he would lose those granny glasses. Anyway, Chris "Large Car" Ward and I played golf with him a couple of weeks ago at San Dimas Canyon. Talk about a laugh a minute...and that was only Chris reminiscing about the old days. We also missed you last week at Santa Anita Park...great time - Jim, Chris, Fairy, Bernie, Lis & Mark, Roseanne, Liane, etc., etc. Mary set up a great day again - you need to show up next year. Later pedito....

Shameless Plug Hi everyone - Having grown up in Alhambra and after moving away for many years, my wife and returned (in order to be closer to our jobs) and were dismayed to see so many of our town's historic and character homes razed for multi-unit housing and development. One of the things that makes Pasadena and South Pas so inviting (and $$$ in home prices) is their intact neighborhoods of single-family homes -- many built before 1930. Alhambra had the same caliber of housing, but unfortunately, it's government never had the vision to protect these homes by inacting historic preservation measures. So in 2003, I formed the non-profit "Alhambra Preservation Group" as a means to create awareness and educate the community on the value of saving these homes. I'm happy to say that we currently have a membership of 150 people (some as far away as New York and Texas) who feel the same and support our group. There isn't a week that doesn't go by that we get an email from a former Alhambran asking if their home still stands -- and we have to tell them that it's been replaced by condos. We want to stop that. On June 28th, we will be having our 3rd Alhambra Historic Home Tour, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM featuring 6 homes located in the first tract of Alhambra. These homes range fom a 1883 Victorian to a 1929 English Cottage. This is a major fundraiser for us and even if you've moved away, we hope you can make it. In the past home tours, we've had people from as far away as Fresno, San Diego, and Napa Valley attend. Thanks for indulging me. And remember, that home we're saving may once have been yours. What a great idea for the '82 reunion!! Hey Larry Landless, how 'bout it? A Martini Pajama party at David Lopez' place!! Thanks for the offer Dave!! I'll spread the word! I'm sure we can count on Bri to tend Bar and Martha to keep everybody in line... as long as it all happens before 10pm. Right ladies??

comment by Laura Gonzales

Ave - after reading the emails, I never got my picture from the reunion either. I left the guy several messages...help.

comment by Natalie Anderson-Schoening '80

Belinda, just scroll down to around November in these messages. It was the yellow can of El Patio chili sauce, then just grated, chips and away you go.

comment by Ave Hoyos-Capozello '81

Laura: I was unsuccessful in obtaining copies of all the photos taken at the reunion from the photographer. They were going to be included in a Memory Album we had discussed early on. The e-mail address and contact number I had for him are no longer valid so I can't point you in the right direction to contact him. I did find a copy of a photo of you and Teri in what was sent to me. I would be happy to mail it to you. (It's a 4" x 6" print - I have two.) The person who recommended the photographer to the reunion committee had a great experience with him. Unfortunately, he did not offer us the same level of service. Sadly, it happens. I've been contemplating a small claims lawsuit against him but am uncertain as to how many alumni would be willing to assist in pursuing that type of activity. Given the amount of dollars involved, it's most likely not cost-effective for most - but it sure would feel great to hold him accountable! The reunion photo situation is my one regret from that weekend. Thank goodness there were so many willing to share their personal shots from that night that we were able to post on the website! Let me know where I can send your photograph. Take care, Ave.

comment by Laura Gonzales

Ave, thanks for checking. Looks like he really made out on everyone's money. Yes, I would like that picture if the offer still stands. I will email you with the address to send it to. Thanks for checking. You did such a great job with the reunion, the picture issue is minor. The memories that everyone brought back with them is priceless! Thanks again for all you did!

I'm throwing out a challenge to all my former neighbors on Trumbower Avenue - I have sent my check in for tickets so I am expecting all of you to do the same. I'll even name names - Cindy Butler, Cheryl Sugiura, the Eddow boys (Stacey - round up your brothers!), Karen and Kathy Knuchell, Brent and Tami Mayer, and you too Jerry Barbanell! I'm sure I have missed some of the "babies" in the 1500 block so somebody help me out here. Looking forward to seeing all of you in September!
