Guest Book
Hey fellow Aztec Alumni... I had a great time! The DJ's, The Band, Old Friends, Beach Party, Food at the Beach Party. Ave, I even have my Name Tag... I'll keep it for the next reunion!
Hey Joey Caruso.... that is the funniest skit i've seen in a long time! Thanks for the work you put into it. btw Ave, i still have my name tag
Sorry i missed the Barnes Park Jam, but I'll make the homecoming! Ave, when is the next reunion? will you have name tags at homecoming?
Dear Joe: By unanimous vote (namely - me) - all persons named "Joe" will not be allowed to attend the next reunion. In fact, only alumni with names beginning with the letter "Z" will be allowed to attend per the name badge rule. Yours truly, Zave.
Hey Joe, i've got 25 bucs just burning in my pocket right NOW!!!!!! LOL!!!!
No more name tags!!! And everyone will have the steak!...I'm still probably mumbling steak, chicken shrimp in my sleep! The Saturday morning crew knows exactly what I'm talking about!.....LOL....
I'm envious of those of you who live in So Cal - the reunion reunited so many of us from the mid 70's. Please keep all of us far away informed about what's going on. It was so great re-connecting with Karen Burns, Debbie Teran, Cynthia Almaraz and Cathy, Toni Vasquez, Isabel Aguilar, Fina Martinez, and so many other guys and girls. We looked good then and we're hot now! Let's stay in touch!
I know I missed out on a great nite at Homecoming and at Dave's place, I had a conference to attend, but I was with you all in spirit and I will make sure I attend the next get togehter.
Marie, nice to see you at Sapphire's you look great! Now about that BB-Q, hot tub has been gone for years.........ahhh the memories. How about a Palm Springs weekend get-a- way? It's close and conveinent....yeah they have hot tubs....woof.Now about DAVE LOPEZ and the hot tub incident. Dave don't make me go there! You remember the hot tub story at my sisters house in Pacific Palicades? Doug Melendez, you got my back on this one...yeah he was there. Dave Miranda, how did you get your car keys? Martha blamed me. Becky, yes i do remember Fosters Freeze on the corner of New and Garvey. That is old school! On that same corner there were three gas stations. Remember the nursery down the street on Garvey, and the Car Wash across the street on Garvey? And the Mc Donald's on Garvey was a lumber yard before it burned down. Vivian Vasquez what ever happened to her?
Does anyone remember Chris & Pitts at Jackson and Garvey next to Alpha Beta? Us Garvey kids used to go there after school and eat french fries with lots of ketchup cuz we could not afford hamburgers!
David Vargas '81 - thanks again for giving us a great meeting place - The Sapphire Lounge - aka MK Reunion Central! Wish you could have been with us. Hope you had a great time in Mexico sipping tequila! And to our great DJ - Dave Lopez '82. Thanks for playing the old tunes for us on Friday night. You are forever more the MK Alumni Reunion DJ extraordinaire - save a Saturday night for us in 2011!
Continued... I think many of us have been pleasantly surprised at how fun this could be! I hope you all realize how special and unique a group you are. It's not every often that 600+ people get a chance to revisit their teen years with such enthusiasm and fondness. So, again, thanks for coming along for the ride. It has been my pleasure to play "MK party planner". This year has been one amazing experience after another. And I'll cherish the memories for a very long time to come. Many of you have asked "now what"? So, here are a few ideas that people have suggested for future get togethers: Vegas in the summer of '07 (I'm working on it!); a weekend in Palm Springs w/ a golf tournament; a weekend cruise to Mexico; and an annual beach party in Huntington Beach (Mike Lucero '81 & John Caruso '80). I'll keep the website updated with info as plans unfold. As with our recent reunion, any and all classes that want to be a part of future gatherings are more than welcome. Any class planning their individual reunions are more than welcome to use this site, as well. Okay the mushy stuff... you all hold such a very special place in my heart. I feel so fortunate to have had the chance to make so many new "high school" friends - 25 years later! I feel like I've known you all forever. I wish you all the best life has to offer. Until we meet again, Ave '81
I drove past the school on Saturday afternoon as I was on my way home and it struck me - how very lucky we all are to have had such a great high school experience. It really was a special place and time, wasn't it? And how wonderful it has been to revisit friendship from oh so many years ago and make so many new friends along the way. I finally got a chance to speak with a lot of friends on Friday night. Thanks for your very kind words Laurie Chong - you're the sweetest! It was great seeing Paul Baldwin - he still remembers what a great student I was...right! (At least I always spelled the names of players correctly in the football programs.) Thanks for passing me all four (!) P.E. classes in my Junior & Senior years - it's a long story! The parents running the snack bar and the Principal were absolutely overwhelmed about the donation. They wanted me to convey their appreciation for the contribution to the school. Looks like we'll be able to cover their expenses for both snack bar equipment renovations! Your school spirit and genorosity was an unexpected plus in planning our recent reunion. You should all be so VERY proud!
had a great time at the homecoming game / afterparty at the saphirre lounge.seeing all the people that were there brought back alot of memories. and yes i do remember the Chris & Pitts' darren! Ave you did a great job.thanks for letting be involved hope to you all soon.
I'm sorry to have missed what sounded like a great time this past Friday nights game & what an amazing contribution made to the school. Ave your right about what that tiny idea too..... Alright I'll say it "Ave for President"!! Girl, you made wonders happen! I'm enjoying all the coorespondence between friends from the past. And as for the comments about the old area, I remember so much about it, and I think it's because it was such a special time and place to grow up in. I remember how fun it was going to to Der Weinersniztel on Garvey (early 70's) and watching them write down your order on the back of the bag they placed your food in. As a kid I thought that was the coolest! I so wanted to work there !! I hope we can have another reunion some time down the road, I have been blessed to have reconnected with some special friends from MK. I wouldn't change a thing. Remember ladies November 19th!!! Friends are important, we all share some piece of ourselves with each other, whether a memory, fun times or experiences. To have all grown up together, that's something to celebrate. And to think it all started with sending a simple e-mail starting with "Remember me?" Be well everyone. Becky~
Case of Coronas-$21.00, Bottle of Tequila 1800-$22.00, Amount paid to the wife so she'll get off your ass about watching the big game with your friends $100.00, UCLA 13-USC 9 PRICELESS!!! GO UCLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe next year USC.
again, i ask, am i the only pendejo who went to CSUN? Go Matadors!! LOL
Okay, I know why UCLA fans are coming out of the woodwork...now. Not willing to put yourself up to scrutiny beforehand, hmmm? Not willing to take the hit if your team had lost?! I may be taking my lumps now, but I made my allegiance known last week and I'm taking the loss with (some) grace! With the exception of Joe, Brian, & Ray, I see a lot of post-game fans making some noise! Where were you last week?!
Dave, how much for the strip-recipe and the song list you owe me? We can always barter! My sister Nanette ('88) graduated from CSUN. I met Mark Garcia last week who I believe currently coaches at Keppel. He had attended the reunion and of course had some very nice compliments. Ave, do you know how many faculty members attended the reunion? Just curious. Elaine, I have not received pictures either.
I worked at the snack bar at Barnes Park too! I wonder how many of us Aztecs worked there over the years? Sadly, I didnt memorize the recipe and will have to pay to get it just like everyone else who wants it! I didnt go to CSUN, USC or UCLA and even though I went to CSULA, I don't consider myself a pendeja. CSULA didnt even have a football team, how sad is that? Mr Marin, who used to teach Math at Keppel, was instrumental in having the CSULA football team done away with sometime in the early 70's.... he felt too much of the school's $ went to support the football team rather than to academic pursuits! If you remember him, this will not surprise you. So give us a hint about the Barnes Park Strip Sauce..... the guy who thought that El Pato (the little yellow can) was a key ingredient was right, yes? Come on, it is just a hint.....
Ave, Sorry about the loss....Just Kidding.... I have a Bruins Fan as long as I can remember. An being married to Bobby, whose Momas worked at USC for 36 years. Well, lets see I have been married for 23 years and yes every year there is a battle between the Bruins and the Trojans. For the longest time I was always the one with GRIN on my face because the BRUINS were som dominating. For the past several years though I have taken my beating and held my head high. It all paid off on Saturday, December 2, 2006. When the BRUINS didn't not let any of us fans down, and helped make Pete Carroll's wish come true, by sending them to the "ROSE BOWL"....Gotta love them BRUINS.................
What an upset for the Chargers!!! (Wha' Happen'??) It was shear devestation, but I think the Chargers had it coming after the 2nd Quarter. Anyone have the same heartache out there??? (ugh...) he he he.
I have a Bootcamp for people who want to get in shape. 144 chestnut in monrovia. 6pm-7:30 mon-thur. Come on down.

Hey everyone from class of 67 i'll see you all at the reunion !!
boy it is funny how this year Ave WAITS until the game starts AND USC is winning before she starts her "smack".wow Ave.... if i remember last year, you were talking a lot of $@#$% 2-3 days before the game.... why did you wait until the middle of the 1st quarter this year?btw...good game SC.... you did what you were expected to do.
I was too busy having fun playing with Spencer on a beach in Maui. I only went up to the hotel room to get more sunscreen. I remembered I hadn't posted anything on the site as I was checking the score of the game. It was just good timing :)

I am so glad to see that this website is still going strong (Ave, you have created a monster). If you are in our class and have been lost or out-of-touch, we would love to see you again. Likewise, if you know how we can contact someone from Repetto '69, please let me know. Thanks!

Hi "Class of 1982"!!! Hope you all show up to the 2011 Multi-Year Reunion!!! See you there Sandra Beltran & Roxanne Bradley/Reyes!!!:)
Cloonie, the 2011 Multi-Year Reunion is self-funded, organized and executed by alumni. Alumni contribute their time, products, services, and money in order for the reunion to succeed. The only advertising opportunity we offer is in the Alumni Bio Magazine distributed at the reunion. All that donate are offered a business card sized ad to promote their business. There is also "Network & Job Board" link on this site that is available to all alumni interested in posting information to self-promote. All alumni are invited to advertise on that link.
OK, Class of '73, we're supposed to be setting a good example for our younger Keppel "siblings," so sign up to attend this reunion because Ave is working her tail off to organize it!
Class of 69, 76,78,& 80
I don't know if anyone will see this, but I gotta say,I'd sure like to see some repre- sentation from the early 70's at the next reunion meeting in Newport Beach. I was the only one in Alhambra. Then this past Tuesday at the Brass Elephant to see John Avila's('75)Band. Anyone know Tom Chichetti('71)?He's in the band. There was a whole gang of people from the 80's there. Let me tell you, it's very difficult to reminisce with yourself.Any-body miss some kick-ass Rock & Blues?; be there next tuesday.I'll see you there. Another classmate from'73,Mark Hummel has a Blues band out of Oakland. He'll be at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel(bar) in Pasadena on July 22.The guy wails! on the Harmonica.Check him out; I'll be there, too! That's all I gotta say for now.Hope to see you at these shows. If not I'll see you for sure at the reunion. Later.

AND ALL THE COMMITTEE MEMBERS HAVE PUT INTO THIS EVENT! AVE, I MAY NOT HAVE SIGNED UP FOR A PARTICULAR COMMITTEE 'CUZ I DON'T WANT TO MAKE PROMISES I CAN'T KEEP, BUT I PROMISE TO KICK IN ONCE I GET THERE; WHEREVER YOU NEED ME...THAT'S A PROMISE!
Count me in for homecoming.
Wow, another great evening at the game and Saphire's! Guess that was the last of the official gatherings. It is amazing to run into people I didn't see at the reunion. We should try and do this every few months either at Saphire's or where ever Dave or John can entertain us. Nice to see we are not too old to still close a place down!
